Mostly, I want this site to be about providing useful information for people who want to become fulltime nomads, or who already are and just want some tools to make life easier on the road. But hey, part of every life needs to be a little bit of fun, right?

So, this is the place where I put the stuff I find enjoyable or amusing, that brings a smile to my life on the road. It’s so much more fun when it’s shared.

Making

To keep myself entertained on the road, I do some art and sometimes teach how to make art. Learn more…

Metal Detecting

Lots of RVers have hobbies, but when you’re a full-time nomad, limited storage room forces you to pare down to those that travel well with you, and don’t take up a lot of room. For those reasons, and because traveling to different places really opens up your possibilities for finding cool stuff, metal detecting is the ideal hobby for nomads.

I’ve been detecting since 2004, and have written Metal Detecting for Beginners: 101 Things I Wish I’d Known When I Started. It’s the first in my series of QuickStart Guides, meant to give you just enough information to get started and decide if you like the hobby. If you need more information, there will be at least two more books in this guide series, and there are several really good, comprehensive “bible”-type books out there.

I also sometimes teach people on the road to metal detect. Learn more…

Road Songs

In this time of mixtape popularity, this playlist was compiled primarily based on selected songs of my own choosing and from suggestions I solicited on my Facebook page. It contains songs that are either directly about road tripping or road life, or that contain references to common related terms and concepts. There are a million other road songs out there, so make your own playlist. Even if you can’t live on the road, you can sing about it along with your favorite road songs.
